Here are the wonderful teachers that teach our KNIGHTS:
Teachers By Specialty
Physical Education: Nicholas Toscano (ntoscano@paterson.k12.nj.us)

Philosophy:
The goal of Physical Education class is to develop physical literacy in students, meaning they are able to perform a variety of skill themes that may be applied to a variety of different activities enabling students to lead active and healthy lives as they transition into adulthood. I believe in exposing students to as many skills and activities as possible, as well as promoting a positive learning environment through incorporation of social emotional learning concepts. Physical Education is also an opportunity to reinforce mathematics, reading, & writing from a perspective of kinesthetic learning. I strive to bring the best out of every student!
Technology Instruction: Nicole Lovell (nlovell@paterson.k12.nj.us)

Future-Ready Learning with Technology
In our K–5 classrooms, technology transforms learning into an exciting, hands-on experience. Students explore new topics through interactive games, videos, and digital tools, while learning at their own pace and collaborating with classmates on creative projects. They build essential skills like keyboarding, coding, problem-solving, and digital citizenship. Technology also helps students think critically, communicate effectively, and become responsible digital citizens.
Learning is aligned with New Jersey’s technology standards: Standard 8.1 for safe, responsible digital use and collaboration, and Standard 8.2 for problem-solving, design, and computational thinking.
These experiences prepare students not just for school, but for a bright, tech-ready future.
Art: Rachel Curtis (rcurtis@paterson.k12.nj.us)

Art is a powerful language which connects us to history, culture, and one another. In my art classes this year, I aim to create an engaging and welcoming space where students are empowered to take creative risks, ask questions fearlessly, and explore their unique artistic voices. My classes will foster curiosity and build confidence in our students in order to deepen their appreciation for art and its role in their lives.
Music: James Peck (jpeck@paterson.k12.nj.us)

My personal music philosophy is that music’s purpose is simply to express the emotions that we feel as humans. I emphasize this in my lessons, and I love to try with my students to find the musical choices that lead us to have a certain emotional response when we hear them. Emotion is intrinsic not only to a song’s lyrics but to the musicality, the production choices, and all other aspects of a piece of music. As education moves in a more technological direction, I love incorporating lessons of music production and recording into the classroom, and showing how the technology can emphasize these emotional responses through the production/recording process.
